This is the first bed I’ve built.
It started pretty simply, I needed something that fit the space and didn’t feel like an afterthought. Most of what I found was either too expensive or just not quite right, so I figured I’d try building it myself.
Size: 100X200 cm – total materials cost: 30 euro – IKEA equivalent: 50 euro, given, I did not add a headboard, and also the wood I chose is much thicker and, honestly, I love it.
It’s nothing overly complicated, just a solid wooden frame built to do its job without needing attention. That was the main goal – something stable, quiet, and simple enough to forget about once it’s in use.

One of the corners didn’t come out exactly how I planned: the cut is slightly off, and you can see it if you’re looking for it. I thought about redoing it at the time, but it holds, it’s stable, and in the end that felt more important than getting everything perfectly aligned. At the time, I did not have a better saw either, so I used a cheap saw I found at Action, but oh boy, that thing bent. 😅
It’s the kind of detail that reminds me how it was made, rather than something I’d want to hide.

Once everything was tightened and in place, it felt solid in a way that’s hard to get from flat-pack furniture.

It’s not something I think about much anymore, which I think is a good sign. It does what it’s supposed to do, and it does it well.
I’d probably change a few things if I built it again, but that’s part of the process, this one works, it's just V1.
