There’s something grounding about having a space that’s entirely your own - not just a desk, but a place where things happen. This is mine.

my POV

I didn’t buy it as a finished piece. It started as a few slabs of wood from a local hardware store, the top from a dismantled wardrobe, some tools, and a rough idea of what I wanted. Nothing fancy, just something solid, something that would hold up over time and feel right to sit at. I really wanted it to be tailored to my liking, the exact height I need - 75cm, the tabletop is 170x60 cmm enough to fit and hold two screens.

Third screen is connected to my devbox, a small pc running linux (arch, btw).

Putting it together was a mix of planning and figuring things out as I went. Measuring twice, adjusting three times, and accepting that a few imperfections would always be part of it.

this tabletop is not going anywhere 😅

I have tried a bit of white paint on the leg, but quickly changed my mind, I think I like the look of the raw wood more, I still need to softly sand the painted area. 😅

The desk has become more than just a surface. It’s where I work, tinker, write, and occasionally get stuck on problems longer than I’d like to admit. Over time, it’s collected its own small history: cable management experiments, hardware swaps, late-night ideas, and the quiet satisfaction of things finally working.

I like that it doesn’t try too hard. It’s simple, functional, and built to serve its purpose. And maybe that’s the point, a good workspace shouldn’t demand attention, it should just make it easier to focus on what you’re doing.

There’s still room to improve things, and I probably will.
